Neurmodulators are a form of purified protein which is created from a bacterium - much like how penicillin is made. In Canada, 4 brands of neuromodulators are presently approved for cosmetic use, they are Botox ®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Nucevia®.
Cosmetic Neuromodulators can be injected in several areas of the face including frown lines, forehead lines, crow's feet, bunny lines, and more. The goal of these treatments are to produce a look that appears well-rested and refreshed by relaxing select facial muscles - without appearing frozen or expressionless.
Are the products safe? Are there side effects?
Yes, these products have been extensively researched since Botox ® was first approved by Health Canada in 2001. Side effects are generally mild and rarely permanent. Ask your provider and about the specific risks and side effects associated with your preferred treatment areas.
How long does it last?
Results are not permanent, and last 3-4 months on average, but can vary from person to person. Occasionally, neuromodulators don't work at all (<5% of the population). If you book your first year of appointments prompty every 3-4 months, you may eventually be able to increase the duration of the of your treatments to 4-6 months.
Is there downtime after treatments?
Generally the procedure takes no longer than 45 minutes with consultation. After this we ask that you avoid exercise, lying on your face, and avoid touching, rubbing, or physical pressure on the affected area. Aside from this, clients do not require any recovery time, you can return to work or school, you can wear make up, and carry about your day as usual!
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) occurs naturally in our skin's connective tissue. HA fillers are injectable gels that are used to restore symmetry, volume, and structure to areas of the face that naturally evolve with age. Filler is typically used in areas like the cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds (smile lines), chin, or around the mouth (marionette lines).
How long does it last?
Effects are noticeable immediately after injection with full results seen in 14 days. Fillers are temporary and can last anywhere from 6 - 18 months depending on the type of filler, the location injected, and the volume of product used. More recently studies have shown evidence that filler can remain in the body up to 10 years, so speak with your injector if you have concerns about this time frame.
Will all my wrinkles disappear?
Neither neuromodulators nor filler can guarantee a "wrinkles-free" face after one treatement. Effective treatments aim to soften wrinkles and improve facial lines in targetted areas. However, some clients will notice a dramatic improvement, making them appear up to 5 years younger in one session.
Pricing is dynamic and can be dramatically impacted by global supply shortages, increasing demand, and other factors. While TBB does provide quotes on a dollars per unit basis, we ask that you please discuss your treatment plan and budget with your injector so we can ensure we provide you with the best products to address your aesthetic needs.
